Theme: Vintage Port & Late Bottled Vintage Port Grab Bag

1966 Graham’s Vintage Port – Brown-orange in color with some light sediment. Light petrol, cocoa powder and hazelnuts on the nose. Intense mouthfeel with light cinnamon bark. Some spice on the finish. 89 points. 2/16/2019

1977 Warre Vintage Port – Dark amber-brown in color. Clear, with no sediment. Cloying nose, reminiscent of pomegranate seeds. Some metallic notes that overwhelm the mid-palate. Some red fruit on the finish with a touch of spice. 86 points. 2/16/2019

1994 Offley Boa Vista Vintage Port – Dark purple in color. Opaque except for some slight lightening on the very edges Light-bodied with medium red fruit on the palate. The medium-long finish is full of flavor with cherry and currant. 92 points. 2/16/2019

1994 Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port – Crazy dark in color. In addition to slight herbal and dark fruit notes on the nose, there is also a buttery note, suggestive of a Diacetyl fault in this wine. A little linear in the flavor profile. This is some alcohol on this wine, and my tasting group thought that this might have been caused by fortifying the wine with bad aguardiente. 88 points. 2/16/2019

2011 Quinta do Crasto Late Bottled Vintage Port – Dark purple in color. Opaque with ruby purple on the edges. Some floral notes and dark fruit on the nose. Intense red fruit with a great, lush mouthfeel. Good acidity and tannins with a touch of bitterness right at the tail end of the finish. 95 points. 2/16/2019

2011 Fonseca Late Bottled Vintage Port – Unfiltered. Very dark, opaque purple. Cocoa powder, red fruit and a touch of spice on the nose. Good spirit on the mid-palate and good acidity and bright fruit on the long finish. 94 points. 2/16/2019

2016 Fonseca Vintage Port – Very dark color with slight lighting on the edges. Well-structured with good fruit, balanced acidity, and a pleasant mid-palate. The tannins pick up a little bit on the elegant, refined finish. 93 points. 2/16/2019

S. Leonardo 60 Year Old Tawny Port – N/R. 2/16/2019
