This Port tasting took place on October 10, 2020 in Sammamish, Washington.
1965 Krohn Vintage Port – Dark amber-orange in color. Light cinnamon, mint, and some cherry notes on the nose. Incredibly intense approach with rich cinnamon and red fruit. Milk chocolate and some spice on the very long finish. Decanted 2.5 hours. 93 points. 10/10/2020
1992 Quinta do Infantado Vintage Port – Dark purple in color. Fresh floral notes on the nose, with the vibrancy of a youthful Vintage Port. Noticeable tannins on the long finish. The 1985 Fonseca and the 1987 Taylor Fladgate Quinta da Vargellas are the only other two wines that I can think of that show this young for a late 1980s, early 1990s Vintage Port. Decanted 4 hours. 92 points. 10/10/2020
1983 Ramos Pinto Vintage Port – Dark purple with violet on the edges. Violet and floral notes, with vanilla bean and some cocoa powder. Fresh primary purple fruit on the palate. Great concentration of floral notes with chocolate and some hits of cranberry. Decanted 4.5 hours. 92 points. 10/10/2020
1982 Krohn Colheita Port – Bottled in 2015. Dark orange-brown in color. Honeysuckle, cedar, and touch of vinagrinho (“little vinegar”). Orange spice, honey, and macerated oranges on the palate. A touch of bitterness on the finish. 93 points. 10/10/2020
1973 Casa Santa Eufemia Special Reserve White Port – A touch of mustiness on the nose. Rich, full-bodied with tropical fruit and some spirit. Really great acidity, and a nice long finish. A little bit of astringency mars the finish slightly, but overall a great bottle. 91 points. 10/10/2020
