J.H. Anderson 20 Year Old Royal Choice Tawny Port – Bottled in 2013. Clear, amber-orange in color. Orange spice and cedar on the nose. Unctuous sweetness on the approach. Light spirit and balanced acidity. Unctuous mouthfeel with caramel and maple on the very long finish. 92 points. 3/9/2018
Bulas 20 Year Old Tawny Port – Bottled in 2015. Clear, orange-yellow in color with lightening on the edges. Hints of lime and some methol on the nose. Medium-bodied with some cloying sweetness. Sweetarts or maybe candy hearts on the palate. 86 points. 3/9/2018
1997 Vallegre Vista Alegre Colheita Port – Bottled in 2014. Rich amber brown in color. Cola, mocha, and cinnamon spice notes on the nose. Unctuous, mouthcoating approach, but the flavor profile falls a bit flat on the mid-palate. Medium-long finish. 87 points. 3/9/2018
J.H. Andresen 20 Year Old Tawny Port – Bottled in 2017. Clear, light yellow in color. Light tropical notes and citrus on the nose. Bright acidity with some tropical notes on the palate. Long finish with well-balanced acidity. 91 points. 3/9/2018
1964 Krohn Colheita Port – Bottles in 2007. Pale yellow in color with hints of orange in the center. High toned nose with some hints of tropical fruit. Medium-bodied. 89 points. 3/9/2018
1985 Fonseca Vintage Port – Dark purple in color with lightening on the edges. Dark fruit on the nose. Intense, like a Late Bottled Vintage Port. The light-bodied mid-palate and finish detract a little bit from an otherwise solid wine. Dark fruit on the finish. 89 points. 3/9/2018
2012 Real Companhia Velha Quinta das Carvalhas Late Bottled Vintage Port – Sadly, I did not take any notes on why I didn’t rate it, but I suspect it might have been a bad bottle. N/R 3/9/2018
1979 Kopke Colheita Port – Bottled in 2006. Medium amber in color. Citrus and nuts on the nose. Intense flavors of toffee, brown sugar and coffee on the palate. Good acidity, and a nice long finish. 91 points. 3/9/2018
