The June meeting of the Sammamish Port Club took place in in Sammamish, Washington on June 18, 2022. This was one of the last “themed” tastings before we move to a “bring what you want to share” type of format, so it was nice to be able to try a couple of “pairs” of Ports from two different producers.
1985 Offley Late Bottled Vintage Port – Dark amber-orange in color. Vanilla, cherry cough drop, light spice, and some light medicinal notes on the nose. Raspberry and red fruit on the approach. Slight astringent sourness and some sharp acidity, but the wine mellows out on the long finish. 90 points. 6/18/2022
1985 Offley Boa Vista Vintage Port – Dark amber-purple in color. Red fruit with some herbal notes on the nose. Slight heat on the entry with spices and red fruit on the mid-palate. Nice chocolate notes on the long, complex finish. 91 points. 6/18/2022

Ferreira Quinta do Porto 10 Year Old Tawny Port – Bottled in 2013. Light amber-orange in color. Transparent. Old wood mingles with vanilla on the nose with some orange spice. Nice, smooth palate with rich complexity and very long, warm finish. 93 points. 6/18/2022
Ferreira Quinta do Porto 10 Year Old Tawny Port – Bottled in 2017. Amber in color. Transparent. Light nose of red fruit. Rich flavor profile with waves of complex flavors and bright acidity all the way through the very long finish. 93 points. 6/18/2022
1958 Kopke Colheita Port – Bottled in 2018. Light amber-gold in color. Crème Brulee and great old wood notes on the nose. Great viscosity on the palate, with dried fruits, light maple syrup, and some really pleasant citrus notes. The acidity if vibrant on the mid-palate and the finish has really nice complexity. 94 points. 6/18/2022
1976 Krohn Colheita Port – Bottled in 2013. Amber-orange in color. Note of light red fruit and herbs on the nose with some light chocolate notes underneath. Rich, complex palate with orange spice and herbal notes. Long finish with well-balanced acidity. 94 points. 6/18/2022
