1985 Fonseca Vintage Port – Dark ruby violet in color. Boysenberry and some light herbal notes on the nose. Some structure and acidity on the approach. Full-bodied with great acidity and tannins. Very long finish with a touch of spirit. 94 points. 2/21/2020

1985 Taylor Fladgate Vintage Port – Medium-ruby in color. Cola, crushed red berries and an underlying hint of mint on the nose. Cinnamon on the palate. Great balance on the mid-palate. Really nice, elegant wine that fits my idea of a “typical” 1985 Vintage Port. 93 points. 2/21/2020

1985 Churchill Vintage Port – Medium-ruby in color. Light milk chocolate with some very light herbal notes on the nose. Maybe just a touch of something off on the nose as well. Some VA on the palate. Red-hots and a touch of aguardiente on the finish. 90 points. 2/21/2020

1985 Dow Vintage Port – There is a unique nose of silicon rubber (NOT off-putting, just interesting). Very elegant and full-bodied. Cinnamon and cherry on the palate. Wonderful balance on the mid-palate and elegant, integrated finish. 94 points. 2/21/2020

1985 Warre Vintage Port – Corked. N/R. 2/21/2020

1985 Graham Vintage Port – Some milk chocolate and red fruit on the nose. Well-integrated and elegant. Strawberry and red fruit on the palate. Good acidity and balance on the finish. 95 points. 2/21/2020

1985 Gould Campbell Vintage Port – Medium-dark Ruby in color with a clear edge. Strawberry and red fruit, with great structure on the mid-palate. Lush red fruit and brambleberry on the long finish. 94 points. 2/21/2020
